Samsung introduce Intelligent scan face unlocking

Image
The  Samsung Galaxy S9  is going to be  announced on February 25 . Samsung is already marketing the camera system on the upcoming smartphone, which will reportedly have a variable aperture. But Samsung will likely have something else to discuss about its newest flagship. A feature called “Intelligent Scan” has been surfaced ahead of the official announcement by  SamCentral . As it currently stands there is no mention of the feature in any current build of Samsung’s mobile software, nor is it mentioned in any beta seeds of the Android 8.0 Oreo build. There is a video showcasing the feature, which will apparently combine iris scanning and facial recognition to get a better picture of the person that is trying to unlock the device. It looks like iris scanning will work in low-light situations, too. The idea appears to be for Samsung’s biometric security measures to work in tandem in an effort to make unlocking the Galaxy S9 a lot easier and smoother. If t...

Google Play have more app install than Apple AppStore

Image
Apps are an essential component of any smartphone, and while this is an area that iOS was previously king of, that's definitely no longer the case. The Google Play Store has grown and matured a lot over the past couple years, and Q4 of 2017 was its best quarter yet. According to  App Annie , the Play Store saw 19 billion new app downloads (not including updates or re-installs) during last year's final quarter. Compared to the Apple App Store, that's a lead of 145%. The App Store still saw more dollars spent at $11.5 billion (two times more than the Play Store), but those 19 billion installs officially make Q4 2017 Google's best quarter to date. Emerging markets played a big role in this number, with countries like Brazil, India, and Indonesia allowing the Play Store to see a year-over-year growth of 10% for these areas. To help put things into perspective, Google Play downloads in India alone were more than app downloads in the U.S. across Google Play and the App Store ...

Google has been removed 70000 malicious Apps in Playstore

Image
There are a lot of excellent apps and games to be found on the Play Store, but to no one's surprise, it can also be home to some bad seeds, too. There were quite a few reports of malicious Android apps all throughout last year, but new numbers from Google reveal that things could have been a  lot  worse. In just 2017 alone, over 700,000 malicious apps were removed from the Play Store. That's 70% more than what Google removed in 2016, and of that 700,000, 99% of the apps were taken down before a single user could install them. Similar to other products and services Google is involved with, a lot of this success can be attributed to the company's machine learning systems. There were a few nasty app trends in 2017, and Google has more evidence to back up its claims of staying on top of all these. When it comes to malicious apps that try to impersonate legitimate ones, 2017 saw Google remove a whopping 250,000 of these. Tens of thousands of applications with inappropriate conte...

Review ZTE Axon M

Image
ZTE’s  new  Axon M  isn’t the first attempt at a dual-screen folding smartphone. That honor goes to the  Kyocera Echo  from 2011, a doomed Sprint exclusive. Back then, the required tech to pull off such a unique form factor didn’t quite exist and being chained to Sprint was a fatal mistake. The phone was a clunky, glitchy flop that few had a chance to even buy. Fast forward over six years and we have a second attempt by ZTE, and modern specs coupled with a much slicker form factor make this one actually work. It’s tragically an AT&T exclusive, repeating a major mistake from Kyocera, but AT&T does enjoy a much larger audience than Sprint. Does the Axon M have what it takes to separate itself in a very crowded market? Let’s dive in and take a look. Design When folded, the phone works like any modern smartphone, albeit thicker and heavier than most. The entirety of the Axon M is aluminum and glass, which looks and feels very premium, but can also double as ...

Best Augmented Reality apps for Android

Image
Apps with augmented reality integration interact with the things around you, giving you a different perspective and way to see the world. Some hardware, such as Project Tango in Lenovo’s  PHAB2 Pro  can even help with this! Augmented apps take physical items and add a digital aspect to them, reminiscent of pop-up books, adding an element of fun to whatever you’re doing, whether it’s playing Pokemon Go, looking at the stars, or just scanning your favorite snack at the store. Here’s some of our favorites. Snapchat Contrary to popular belief, Snapchat is not only for teens. Businesses and companies have utilized this app to further their brand and show their raw, behind-the-scenes work to their customers and fans. So no matter your age or your field of work, Snapchat is an augmented reality blast. With all of the different filters you can use to change your look (or someone else’s), Snapchat brings a different element to wherever you find yourself, whether that be with your frien...

Best Android Apps For Watching TV

Image
It is a well-worn cliché that you can “do anything” on your smartphone, but every new generation of apps to be released seems to come up with something new. Live TV streaming is quickly gaining traction, and there are a growing number of apps that can let you watch for free. A smartphone is the only technology worth gambling on If someone had asked you ten years ago to place a bet on which gadget would be most likely to render everything else obsolete, you would probably not have placed your money on the mobile phone. Yet first it killed off the MP3 player with live music streaming, then the handheld games console with mobile gaming and  live casinos . VR headsets are already struggling to compete with the smartphone versions and they could easily be next. But could the smartphone really take down the best loved gadget of them all – the TV? It certainly seems unlikely that we will ever completely do away with our 65” plasmas in favour of a phone screen, but televisions could certai...
